Squirrel Nut Zippers at Blue Note Hawaii

Ringmaster, Jimbo Mathus and his newly formed swing revival misfits, the Squirrel Nut Zippers put on a circus of a show at Blue Note in Waikiki celebrating the 20th anniversary of their chart topping album, Hot. You couldn't deny the band's infection energy as it flowed through the room knocking some folks right out of their seats, grabbing the nearest dance partner they could find and dancing the night away.

I wasn't able to pull off as many images as I would have liked due to some lighting issues that plagued a good portion of the show. It was a tad bit awkward that at times the only spotlight at the venue was aimed directly at my seat. Technical difficulties aside, it was a fantastic trip through memory lane with one of my favorite bands of yesteryear.

Living Colour at Blue Note Hawaii

90's rock icons, Living Colour were up close and personal for three nights at Blue Note Hawaii in Waikiki and you know I was front and center to witness the magic. Lead vocalist, Corey Glover hasn't lost his touch or sense of humor over his three decade spanning career fronting one of the most boundary shattering rock bands in history.

Along with legendary guitarist, Vernon Reid; drummer extraordinare, Will Calhoun and funk bass phenom, Doug Wimbish; Living Colour laid down a killer set ending with their late 80's hit, Cult of Personality having everyone off their seat and transported to a different time.
